About what we do

I specialize in working with improved used of the body, increased ability to do the things you loved throughout your lifetime, ageing powerfully and gracefully, achieving better athletic performance, greater health and resilience emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

I use movement to increase body-mind awareness giving you a powerful tool to improve function in any area of life.

It is often our habits and our mindsets, known or unknown to us that are the most limiting factors in our life. Our habits and beliefs are the key to actually realizing your potential (easier than you might think) and moving in healthier, more sustainable, less painful and more powerful ways.

Slow, gentle , mindful movement gives us the opportunity to explore the patterns and details that hinder us  and hold us back from doing what we  most want.

My work is based on the Mind-Body ideas of the Feldenkrais method which is taught in group lessons/classes in Awareness Through Movement or one on one individual lessons called Functional integration,

Here is a great video explaining the Feldenkrais Method. How could you use this in your life or sport?

My Story:                                                                                                                       Twenty years ago while working – installing new shingles on a roof, just before the end of the work day while working near the bottom of the roof and feeling secure on the fairly low pitch I felt myself sliding. Suddenly my feet were off the roof edge and then enough of my body mass slipped that I knew I was going to fall. Then it happened almost in slow motion. I had time to think of getting my feet under me before I fell one story into a scrap pile. But I didn’t get both feet close to each other and directly under me, one foot landed a bit off to the side.  I felt a snap when I landed and my ankle was broken. I had a successful surgical repair.  But due to insurance issues there was a long delay before surgery and  I had developed a knee problem while compensating for the ankle. Now I found that I couldn’t run without knee problems.                                                                  Many people will tell you that all you need is strengthening and stretching exercises to improve knee function. But I was already doing weight training and had deadlifted over 400 lbs and stretched regularly. That was to no effect. It was a low point in my life and an orthopedic surgeon told be not to run anymore. I was desperate for answers and the first PT clinic that I went to made the problem worse- I won’t go into the details. The second PT I went to was an ultra runner and he introduced me to the Feldenkrais Method. It turned out that what I needed was not more strength but a change in the way I moved. I began to improve right away.           I was hooked and went on the complete a Feldenkrais training program. Now I want to share the message that awareness of the details of how we do things is the missing ingredient in fitness , health and potential today.                                                                                                               I am so grateful that I discovered this method Body-Mind development. Without it I would not be able to run and be as active as I want today.
